The 2021 Mazda CX-5 is one of the sportiest and most practical compact crossover SUVs available. The CX-5 can seat up to 5 people and is equipped with helpful convenience and safety features. The build of the CX-5 is solid and reliable. The 2.5-liter engine allows engaging driving manners, responsive steering, and top-notch balance.

Drive Performance

The 2021 Mazda CX-5 Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring models are powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque.

The new CX-5 Carbon Edition also has the naturally aspirated 2.5, but it also can be ordered with the turbocharged engine that’s standard in the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature models.

Interior

The interior of the CX-5 features a large 10.25-inch screen above the center console. The screen functions as a touch screen but can also be controlled by the rotary controller in the center console.

The Signature Model (highest trim level) is equipped with leather upholstery and a stitched dashboard. Power-adjustable front seats are available with heating abilities, same with the leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The rear seats can fit two adults comfortably and offer air-conditioning vents. The rear seats in the Signature Model are also heated.

Behind the second row, there is 30.9 cubic feet of cargo space that increases to 59.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.

Standard Features & Trim Levels

The 10.25-inch center display comes standard on the CX-5 along with gray 17-inch alloy wheels, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, LED headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets.

The Sport Trim comes standard with cloth-covered seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-button start and an electric parking brake. Standard safety features include smart cruise control with stop & go, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and blind spot monitoring.

The Touring Model adds rear privacy glass, dual-zone automatic climate control, air conditioning vents and USB ports in the back seats, auto-leveling LED headlights, and a 6-speaker audio system.

The Touring Preferred SV Model is equipped with leather upholstery, a 10-speaker Bose audio system, a power liftgate, moonroof, and front seats.

The Carbon Edition CX-5 is equipped with many of the same features as the Touring Preferred SV Model but features a Polymetal Gray exterior paint color. The Carbon Edition also comes with black 19-inch alloy wheels, black door mirrors, and red leather seats with black trim.

The Grand Touring Model features the 10-speaker Bose audio system, leather interior, a power liftgate, and silver 19-inch alloy wheels.

The top CX-5 Signature Model is distinguished by Nappa leather seats, wood interior trim, and advanced safety features such as Driver Attention Alert, Smart Rear Braking, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.
