The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) announced that Mazda received more Top Safety Pick+ awards than any other automaker. The 2020 Top Safety Pick+ awards went to the Mazda3 sedan and hatchback, the Mazda6, the CX-3 and the CX-5

The Mazda CX-9 Crossover was awarded a Top Safety Pick for 2020 when equipped with specific headlights. To earn these Top Safety Pick and Pick+ awards, a vehicle must receive good ratings in each of IIHS’ six crashworthiness evaluations:
  • Moderate overlap front
  • Driver-side small overlap front
  • Passenger-side small overlap front
  • Side strength
  • Roof strength
  • Head restraints and seats
Mazda’s i-Activsense is a series of advanced safety technologies that make use of detection devices such as radars and cameras. These technologies help the driver recognize potential hazards and avert collisions. These safety features can also help reduce the severity of a situation that cannot be avoided.

“We are proud to be the top 2020 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ award recipient. It’s a big accomplishment and stems from our commitment to our owners,” said Mazda President Jeff Guyton. “Always keeping our customers in mind, Mazda is dedicated to providing the most advanced safety technologies, giving our customers a more enjoyable and confident driving experience.”
